Any guesses what the next cyber sliced bread will look like?
Ask.com, the search engine formerly known as Ask Jeeves, is on its way to extinction. Ten years ago the search behemoth was answering 2 million queries per day. Then Google picked up speed, became the ubiquitous verb for finding things, much like Kleenex is inexorably linked to blowing one’s nose.
Interesting to me is that Ask.com, as a poster child for the 1.0 Web, tugs on all those sentimental “good old days” emotions—and yet, we’re talking less than a decade ago. It really gives one pause, does it not? And leads the mind to ponder replacements for Google, Facebook, Twitter. Any guesses what the next cyber sliced bread will look like?
